Beyond The Cover: Go In Depth With Some Of The Authors Performing At The Greater Pittsburgh Festival Of Books

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The inaugural Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books, a free event featuring writers from Pittsburgh and around the country, is being held this weekend in East Liberty.

Award-winning actor, singer, director and author Billy Porter returns to his hometown to host the event. The festival features a number of other writers and poets.

It explores all different types of authorship from fiction to nonfiction, creative nonfiction to poetry, children’s literature to comics and more.

In addition to the many adult writers, there will also be a dedicated area for children.

The festival is set for Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It spans six venues – Bakery Square, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh East Liberty, Duolingo, East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Kelly Strayhorn Theater and The Maverick.

CBS News Pittsburgh takes the festival digitally with “Beyond the Cover,” a series of interviews with some of the writers attending the event. They share their stories and advice.

They come from a variety of backgrounds and genres, such as mystery, fiction, creative literature and more. See them here.
