Supernatural Alum Jensen Ackles has been promoted to series regular for the just-announced Season 3, TVLine has learned. Her appearance in the ABC drama’s upcoming Season 2 finale was first revealed on Thursday.
“I got tangled up with elements of the cartel more than once,” Ackles’ character Beau Arlen told Katheryn Winnick’s Jenny in the May 19 season finale preview (10 /9c), “and that’s a dirty business”. When Jenny agrees, saying she needs to stop, he retorts, “You mean ‘we’.”
According to the official character description, Beau is “a confident and charming good old boy from Texas who steps in as a temporary sheriff (and Jenny Hoyt’s new boss) on behalf of his friend, Sheriff Tubb”. We learn that Ackles is joining the drama for a season-long arc.
Additionally, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who joined the series in Season 2 as a waitress turned crime syndicate wife Tonya, was also promoted to series regular for the third season.
Ackles’ other upcoming projects include playing Soldier Boy in Prime Video Season 3. The boys (which returns on Friday, June 3) and recounting the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters, which was ordered to series from The CW on Thursday. The spin-off is the “epic, untold love story” of when Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents, John and Mary, first met, “and how they put everything on the line not only to save their love, but also for the whole world”.
