‘Lopez vs. Lopez’ picked up to series at NBC – Deadline

George Lopez and his daughter Mayan make NBC their home.

The network picked up the multi-camera comedy Lopez vs. Lopez to the series.

It comes after the network resumed quantum leap — his only drama pilot in the fall — to the series last week. The move leaves question marks Hungerthe single-camera comedy starring modern family Ariel Winter and executive produced by Demi Lovato.

Lopez vs. Lopezwho comes from The Conners duo Bruce Helford and Debby Wolfe, is a working class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection and all the pain and joy in between.

George Lopez and Mayan Lopez star alongside Selenis Leyva, Brice Gonzalez and Matt Shively with recurring Laci Mosley and Kiran Deol.

No decision has been made on whether it will launch in the fall or mid-season.

Written by Wolfe, a co-EP of The Conners, under the supervision of Helford, executive producer and showrunner of the ABC series. Helford co-created the ABC sitcom George Lopez, which ran for six seasons beginning in 2002. Wolfe and Helford will both serve as executive producers along with 3 Arts’ George Lopez and Michael Rotenberg and Katie Newman. Mayan Lopez is a producer.

Helford’s Mohawk Productions produces with Travieso Productions, Mi Vida Loba and 3 Arts. Universal Television is the studio.

The project was born with Wolfe, a Salvadoran-American writer, who had the idea and worked on it with George and Mayan Lopez. Helford helped connect Wolfe with the Lopezes and was involved with the project in a supporting role.
