The best and worst shows broadcast: “This Is Us”, “Chicago PD”

The traditional television season from September to May is coming to an end in a few weeks. While there are still several finales to air during this timeframe, including the series closer to NBC’s tearjerker “This Is Us,” it’s pretty clear at this point which are the highest-rated scripted shows and the lower-rated that aired in the so-called “Big 4 Broadcast Networks” throughout the 2021-2022 season.

Keeping in mind that there could still be slight adjustments to these averages over the entire season by the end of the month, Variety sorted Nielsen’s “latest” data through May 8 to rank ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox’s best and worst performers among adults 18-49.

Below are the rosters, which count 33 full weeks of the season which is ending soon. These ratings are averages over the respective seasons of the scripted shows and based on one week of deferred viewing.

For the “highest” list, it is ranked from top to bottom. For the “lowest” list, it starts with the lowest in the top slot and goes up from there. Both rankings take into account the ties, which are numerous.
